Archer C6 2.4G band stops working, disable then enable restores
Recently purchased Archer C6 Router running the latest firmware. On 4 occasions the 2.4G WiFi band has stopped working, devices can connect to it but get no network access. Disabling and enabling the 2.4G band on the admin interface restores the connectivity, the 5G band is not affected, a device connected to it is used to reset the 2.4G band.
I used the chat support service to discuss the issue and the suggestion was to change from automatic to a fixed channel for the 2.4G band, this appeared to resolve the issue but it has happened again today, a phone which only works on 2.4G was showing the WIFI as access denied.
is there anything else I can do to resolve this issue.

There are many devices connected to 2.4 GHz with no problems, just Asus Chromebook can't. Is there a problem in Chromebook?

If your antivirus is not blocking anything ?
Below 1.3.x there were problems on 2.4Ghz for me. But only with devices that were always connected, like mobile phones and if it was the same bug, it shows another face now.
And there i had just to reconnect the client again.
Now i had to restart the 2.4Ghz band on the router to get it to work again.

@Wetterhahn No, the problem appeared in 1.3.x. Prior firmwares were ok. I have been using this router intensively 5 months before the 1.3.x distaster.
@adios the very first post of this thread says that problem started on firmware 1.1 already. I had firmware 1.2 with the same problem.

I use now 1.3.1 beta ... and the problem remains ...
Today I (and you) have spent many hours without success. It would be better and cheaper to buy another brand - which brand-type of router do you recommend as alternative to C6? Maybe Asus RT-AC1200G+ , Asus RT-AC85P?

I`m also interested in Asus routers. I had netgear in the past. But i always look on the used chipset too.
Normaly i use Broadcom based routers, they show better performance with Intel wireless cards which all of my laptops have.
With Atheros (Qualcomm based) like the C6 I get maximum 150mbit connection with 2.4Ghz and 40Mhz and only a 72Mbit connection with mobile phone using 20Mhz instead of 150Mbit.
With Broadcom based routers i get 300mbit at 2.4Ghz and 40Mhz and a throughput around 100mbits. And 150Mbit connection with mobile phones using 20Mhz. Throughput around 75mbits.
But this is only based on my Intel wireless in my laptops.
But when i`m near enough for 5Ghz, i always get around 300Mbit throughput with them (Broadcom or Qualcomm).

@Mare007 Look at blocked devices (I think it is under firewall). Some times C6 blocks devices it thinks are dangerous (many intermitent connections, for example). The device seems contacted, but can't surf. My son's tablet had that problem. Y whitelisted it and solved forever.

Yeah I found that but you can't whitelist your devices there. Maybe it is in Access Controll settings.
