Deco M4- How to switch to 5GHz?
Deco M4- How to switch to 5GHz?
I have set up Deco M4 in my home and the wifi signal cover all area in the house. My wired internet speed is around 1000Mbps, but maximum wifi internet speed is around 300 Mbps only. It seems that only 2.4 GHz wifi band is connected and limits the internet speed around 300 Mbps. Is there any method to manually switch to 5GHz band and turn off the 2.4 GHz band? I can't find any setting in the app that allow me to switch 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz.
Thank you.

There are a lot of issues I faced with the user interface and settings of Deco M4.
First of all there is no 5GHz channel changing option. So we cannot set Deco M4 5GHz to a higher channel like 126, 134, 134, 142. That's why we Samsung users cannot use the 5GHz wifi service of the device.
Another problem is, there is no On/Off option of 2.4GHz and 5GHz into the browser user interface. And sometimes the user interface takes way too long to load, which means, it's not optimized well enough.
These are the basic settings to a router user. So We TP-Link users want these solutions on the next firmware update of Deco M4. And we are looking forward to the solutions so much.
Thank You.

I am considering bying the Deco 4 an I want to know if it is possible to run on only on 5Ghz, the info in the below link is only related to Deco 5 and what I have found in this forum the possibility to run on only one band is dependent on a firmware update to Deco 4. Does anyone know if the firmware is updated?

In TP-Link FAQ articles, you can expand "This Article Applies to," to see the list of Deco models to which article applies.
Click on that tiny blue arrow pointing down, and see if Deco M4 is in that list.

Hi, you could turn off the 2.4ghz and leave the 5ghz only for the main network to test the speed;
And if there are some smart IoT devices that required 2.4ghz, please enable the guest network for 2.4ghz only with a different SSID;
Thanks.

@Exacore why cant we ( samsung users ) cannot connect to bands below 100. whats the story here . I am trying to connect my note20 ultra to my deco x20 on 5ghs but it fails to connect . instead it connects on 2.4ghz. whereas all my other devices like iphone 12 , lenovo thinkpad connects on 5ghz with 866/866 link speed. is there a way to trick deco in selecting higher value channel for 5ghz.
