@Sundar

Hello, Deco E4 can provide 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks, but the two Wi-Fi bands have the same SSID and password, it's unable to separate the two Wi-Fi networks via the name. While you can turn off the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band on the Deco app.

This has been forwarded to the developers as a feature request, they will evaluate if the Deco can support it, please keep an eye on the Deco app or the official website for any future updates.

Thanks a lot~

Hi,

The wifi name and password for 2.4GHz and 5ghz are the same. So it is hard to say which band you have connected directly.

While the Deco M4 supports band steering and AP steering, it will recommend the best AP or band for client devices. And regarding to the band steering, it will switch from 2.4GHz to 5GHz.

But if the signal strength is weak of 5GHz, the client device may switch to 2.4GHz automatically by its own.

May it help and have a nice day.

@Ben10 How do you switch manually to 5GHz. I set main network to only use 5GHz and yet I get 2.4 level speeds via Deco.

@TP-Link_Deco Thank you. I have turned off 2.4GHz in the app but no luck. I read somewhere that the bottleneck for E4 is the Ethernet connectivity between the ourter and E4 which can only support 100 Mbps. So I need M4 or higher. Is this true?

@Sundar

Hello, thanks for replying.

Yes, the Deco E4 is equipped with 2 10/100Mbps WAN/LAN Ports, and the wired link speed can be 100Mbps at most, so it is not suggested to get the E4 if you have a higher bandwidth of more than 100Mbps. Deco M4 is equipped with 2 Gigabit Ethernet Ports, yes, you may turn to M4 if you require a higher link speed.

Good days.

@TP-Link_Deco Is there any update to this? I promoted to my airbnb guests that I have a gigabit ethernet and I keep getting complaints that their speed (tested through speedtest.net) is very slow and I am getting bad reviews because of it :/

@subanashi

Hi, the original post is quite a while ago.

And I checked your TP-Link ID, the model number is Deco X60.

Would it be possible to start a new thread about your current issue., like how much speed you are supposed to get?

And Did you want to switch to 5ghz because you thought the slow speed was caused by the 2.4ghz?

Thank you very much.
