Archer C6 hairpin / loopback
Archer C6 hairpin / loopback
Hi,
Is it possible to configure loopback / hairpining in Archer C6? I'm trying to access my home server using my public IP adress and domain name assigned to that IP. I'm able to access my server from outside of my lan/wifi network, but when I'm connected to lan/wifi the only possibility to connect is to use my internal IP adress adres of the server (192.168.0.x).
There is nextcloud host running on my server and nextcloud mobile client won't allow two ip adresses/domains for single server.
Kind Regards,
P.

I managed to do the tests this evening - and long story short, NAT loopback doesn't work - unless you change NAT boost. When NAT boost is enabled/disabled on both 1.3.6 and 1.3.7 beta then DNS loopback sometimes works - usually only the first time you refresh after changing the setting. After that first refresh then it no longer works. I can try other browsers or close and reopen the browser but it still won't open a second time. Interestingly I can still ping the address? Not sure if that means anything...
This was not a problem on 1.3.1 interestingly. On 1.3.1 it worked every time I refreshed whether NAT Boost was on or off. A factory reset didn't help as NAT boost is on by default. All the other settings were the same between the 3 firmwares I tried. Basically just changing enough to get it running before testing.
Firmwares I used were:
1.3.1 Build 20200507 rel.34028(4555) - This is the most stable of the firmwares and where loopback always worked
1.3.6 Build 20200902 rel.65591(4555) - This is the current stock firmware
1.3.7 Build 20200723 rel.33309(4555) - This was a beta firmware from the forum

Thank you very much for getting back with the detailed info.
As I can confirm, it seems you are not on the latest beta firmware we posted here, the latest beta version should be https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202010/20201030/ArcherC6v2_eu-up-ver1-3-6-P1[20201030-rel60104].zip, can you please install this version, then reset and reconfigure the C6 when it is convenient?

Hi @Kevin_Z, do you have maybe any updates on this?
I have just set up my Archer C6 recently as well hoping that the loopback feature would be supported. Unfortunately, I'm running software version 1.3.6 Build 20200902 rel.65591(4555) and my setup also seems not to support hairpin - from within my network I'm unable to reach destinations located internally.

Are you able to remotely access the local resources from outside network, but cannot access it locally by WAN IP+port number? May I know what kind of services are you trying to access?
The tech team was made aware of your issue, they will likely reach out to you via email to continue to troubleshoot your issue.

@Kevin_Z thanks for reaching out.
Yes, this is the exact case. Rephrasing:
- When trying to access a certain service from outside, using my WAN address and port number, it works fine.
- When trying to access the same service from within, using my WAN address and port number, the request fails.
I hope this can be resolved easily.

I have a similar problem to fix. Let me especify for you understand my situation...
I have a app accessing on external ip normally, but, when i access the same app connected on same net, the app doesn't complete the connection.
I saw all tips in this community and tried every then, but no successfully.
My local ip 192.000.00.0
My external 131.00.000.000.00
My app is using internal port 80 and external 54..
What can i do to fix it ?
Sometimes i need to connect external and sometimes internal using the same application (mobile).

Can we have the detailed network layout? How is the C6 connected to the network?
What kind of app are you using? Is it running on a computer or on the phone? What if you connect that device to another network, will you be able to access the app in that network?
