Unable to access Archer C8 remotely
Unable to access Archer C8 remotely
Good day,
- I enabled remote control in Advanced -> Tools -> Admin.
- I enabled "allow all devices to access"
- I selected port 8080
- I went to www.canyouseeme.org and made sure port 8080 is accessible.
I then set up DDNS with No-IP, entered all the details into the DDNS part of Archer C8 interface and was able to log in.
I am not able to reach the router from an external network. I tried both http://no-ipServerName:8080 and https://no-ipServerName:8080 - with no luck. I can only access the router from within the home wifi, but that is not what I am looking for.
I also went to the ISP-provided modem and tried adding NAT/port forwarding - still no luck.
Help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

This does not work for me at all - I am able to log in, but all I see is "no cameras on this account", even though I created the cloud account by clicking the link within the router interface.

Another thought.. Can you sign on to the router remotely using your IP address plus the port number ( something like 55.55.55.555:8080)?
Yes, I can. But when I try to use no-IP (both http and https), no luck. Even though no-IP shows my current IP address and confirms it has been updated recently.

Resolved.
I changed the DDNS setting to "TP LINK", then tried logging in by navigating to http://domainname.tplinkdns.com:portNumber and it worked. The only problem: unless I use incognito mode, I can log in, but I get logged out after approx. 1 second. I can live with that.

Glad you got it worked out.
I cheered prematurely. The above-mentioned solution worked for a few weeks, now - although I did not change any settings - I can no longer access the router remotely.
Any suggestions? @archerc8

Any suggestions anyone? No idea why the remote access via domainName.tplinkdns.com stopped working although no settings have been changed on the router or on the home network.

Check to see if your ISP address was changed by your ISP.
Does not seem so.
Here is something interesting: with no changes made, the remote access works again. It is great, of course, I just wonder what blocked that access that made it impossible for me to access remotely...
