Hello,
Am trying to use a TP-Link TL-WR702N to connect my Samsung SmartTV to a wireless network, using "client mode". For some reason, the TV refuses to accept it is connected, or even connected to a router. Enabling DHCP on the TP-Link does seem to convince the TV that it is connected to a router, but still not to the internet. Strangely though, I can control the TV via the Android app operating on the local network, so clearly it is connected. I assume the SmartTV is trying to get a response on the local network that the TP-Link is filtering out for some reason, but no idea why. Any thoughts ?
(TV plugged into broadband router via ethernet cable works perfectly well, so not an broadband problem)
thanks,
Richard

Do you have latest firmware in your router? What connection do you have between devices (wired or wireless)?

yes, I upgraded to the latest version.Wireless connection between 702N and TD-W8968. I have tried client, repeater and bridge.
DLNA works fine. I can stream movies from my PC to TV but Internet doesn't work.
Also in 702N > System tools > Diagnostic I can only ping the internal network.
Although when I connect 702N to my PC's LAN Port, Internet works.

Maybe this is problem with DNS on TV. Router has problem with DNS translation.

For some reason the primary router picks the 702N's MAC Address for TV.

@notorious
from the arp-a, it seems your TV is able to obtain IP address automatically through the WR702N working in client mode, it could be the DNS problem, have you tried the public DNS 8.8.8.8 on the TV?

Hi,
I have the same issue with connecting a Samsung Smart TV via a TP-WR702N in client mode to our home router.
The TV gets a DHCP address from the broadband router but the built in connection test fails.
A media server running on a linux machine in the wired LAN can be found and used by the TV.
Connecting the TV via cable works fine and the connection test passes.
Using the WR702N for internet access on my PC works as well.
