TL-WA850RE max only 8 clients?!
Hello,
I've got TL-WA850RE extender running in AP mode (with cable from routter connected to it). HW revision 6.0, firmware 1.0.0 Build 20181108 Rel. 56911(6985).
I've also started making my house smart, so I'm replacing my light bulbs with Wi-Fi enabled bulbs.
And it seems that whenever there are 8 simultaneous wifi clients, more can't connect! And this happens really easily, when I turn on all my light.
But when I try to connect some 5 GHz capable device to my router's WiFi network, it connects. But not to the TP-Link.
I've DHCP disabled on the extender, so it's also not the problem.

Hi all,
The TL-WA850RE supports 2.4GHz only and to ensure the performance, up to 8 devices can connect to it at the same time. So the current issue is normal.
If you want to connect more clients to the extender, you can upgrade it to some stronger products, like RE450, RE650.
May it help.

Up to 16 devices can connect to RE450, and 32 can connect to RE650. While please notice that with more devices connected, the performance of the actual extender will be affected heavier.
Good day.

Hello, we need upgrade the product to a stronger one, the current TL-WA850RE is a single band extender, you can order a dual band one, which has better performance, like RE450, RE650.

@Kevin_Z I get it. You were looking for the RE450 and RE650 models, but I don't see specifications of how many devices it supports connected. Could you tell me when devices accept these models?

Can you provide list of extender/repeater with their corresponding maximum number of connections?
Thanks

As requested by wifibzman, would it be possible to have a datasheet with devices and their maximum number of connections?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards.

Good day!
I am sorry there is no such datasheet available for the maximum numbers of the clients.
But there is some information for your reference.
For the single-band extenders, such as 850RE, 855RE, normally the maximum clients would be 8; some hardware versions would reach 16;
For dual-band extenders, normally, the maximum Is 16, and some advanced models could reach 32.
And if you are interested in one of the models, you could send me a message with the model number as well as the hardware version.
Please note: With more devices connected, the performance of the actual extender will be affected heavier.
Thank you very much for your understanding and support.
