IGMP SNOOPING over WIFI ?

Hi, I totally do not understand how the IGMP SNOOPING works. I get the general idea of what it is. So sorry if my question is stupid, but I want to know if this function(protocol) can work over WIFI or it works only with cable?

I bought Tp Link 840N and intend to have IPTV and the device (decoder) of my provider has WIFI, that is why I am asking about IGMP.
