Hi,

I am getting a weird situation where when the xbox one x with fixed IP and wired to the VR2600 wakes everything else on the network (all connected via a set of deco M5 mesh units but working in AP mode so the router controls the IP table) drops briefly. It cuases apple TV to stop, some of the window machines to not reconnect, blips on the mac with cant access internet. Once the xbox is running everything is pretty much ok, its just that startup phase. I have another Xboxone on wireless that does not seem to cause the problem, but equally gets disconnected if the main xbox one x sparks up.

My VR 2600 is Hardware version Archer VR2600 v1 00000000  firmware is 1.4.0 0.8.0 v0050.0 Build 160518 Rel.50944n (Not seen an update ever I think). The M5's are all up to date and working well.

I get good bandwitch from my BT infinity line that the VR 2600 is connected into around 70mbps down and 20mbps up.

I have tried switching the major devices, such as the laptops also to fixed IPs.

The vr2600 is using upnp for the Xbox NAT.

I did a factory reset and reinstall on the xbox one x, to no avail.

I was looking at bandwidth control as the only QoS available, but it it is not bandwidth thats the problem when devices get disconnected.

The M5's are in AP mode as they seemed to suffer from not being able to access https correctly but that was all soleved when the router took over. Of course this now seems it may have been the router that was the problem.

Is this just an old hardware version of the 2600, that cant cope with all this gaming and upnp traffic do you think? Bought in Nov 2016.

We have a lot of kit attached now. Seems like it may be struggling processing the various lists?

Any suggestions please?

Thanks,

Ian/epred

I am going to answer my own question here, as it may help someone.

After lots of looking around and trying to figure it out I tried buying an Archer 2800 to replace the 2600, it looked like it had a newer software stack.

It arrived I configured it to my BT btbroaband (just need the userid bthomehub@btbroadband.com no password needed so put anything)

I turned off the wifi and hooked it to the deco m5 so nothing else had to change.

Xbox one x started and instantly had an Open NAT (previously it seemed confused but sort of worked)

The UPnP table seemed to have a few more entries it in too for some of the other devices.

some of the the minor dropouts just a for a few seconds seem to have gone too.

Routuer also has a new page of QoS, better then teh old bandwidth assigments the older router had so I have confidence I can control the work laptop over the xbox if needed.

It woudl seem the 2600 and its 2016 software were not geared up to this many devices doing lots of different types of connectivity through upnp, the 2800 on the other had, with a 2017 software update works (so far)

I had a VR2600 and suffered from many random web browsing errors which appeared to be DNS related. I still believe these to be software related rather than hardware but TP-Link eventually agreed to a RMA swap as they have no newer firmware for me to try. The VR2800 I got in return has not exhibited any of these issues and feels like a much better router all round compared to the VR2600.
