Thanks, QoS back to default settings did the trick.. I no longer have to reboot the router every week to achieve my speed tier.

I never fiddled with the qos settings on the two units i tried

Had the same issue at first. I was able to isolate the problem to the NAT Boost being deactivated when QoS is active. Go to QoS Device Priority and remove all devices from the priority list. Go to QoS Application Priority and select Custom and leave every slider on Normal. Hope this works for you.


Hello, so I've had this same exact issue for months now, I guess since getting the Archer5400X version 1, which is different than yours I know, but its the same issue.
I guess my QoS section of this firmware/software in the admin console doesn't have where I can clear out the devices. So I can't test this out, but sounds like it would be the fix for my issue.
I've attached my software versions. Hopefully I can figure out a fix to this, because paying for Gigabit and getting 1/2 of it sucks. I even had the Cox people out to check my line and we were able to narrow it down to this router being the issue.
We got the slow speeds, rebooted modem, no fix, then rebooted router, fixed it. So then tested again when the speeds were slow with direct connection to the modem, fast again. So its this router for sure.

I'm having the same issue. I have a C4000 v2. I also had the cable people out to check the line, etc. I would get 900+ Mbps for the first few hours and then would start getting 400 Mbps. I traced it down to needing to power-cycling the router every couple hours. That's not sustainable. I'm going to try the QoS suggesting... otherwise I'm returning this device.

I just checked and can't delete the QoS devices from the priority list as suggested by jcgallagher. I have the latest firmware... they must have removed that option.

I will try to use it and see if it is faulty anymore. That's not sustainable. I'm going to try the QoS suggesting... otherwise I'm returning this device.

Not delete, but just make sure none are selected, adjust the slider to default I believe to normal

Yes... mine are all set to default and I don't have any machine prioritized. Do you think I should try to set them all to low?

I wanted to add to this as I just recieved a C5400X today. My initial speed tests from with in the routers UI, were around 700Mb using v1.06 FW which shipped with my unit. After upgrading to v1.10, the speed test in the UI is only getting around 300Mb now. This is with using the FW update tool and letting it apply the update. I have not factory reset. I'll also try disabling QoS items and test again as well.
