I wonder if anyone can help - I have emailed support but have heard nothing from them as yet.

I am a Virgin broadband customer with a 2.0 Superhub (AC). I wanted to extend the range with mesh wifi, so bought the Deco M5 (3 set). I have quite a lot of Cat 5 wired connections in the house, which were put in when we modernised about 5 years ago. This means we have a switch (TL-SG1016 by TP-Link).

I bought the Deco M5 as I thought having two items from TP-Link meant they would play together nicely. However, presumably because of the Virgin router, the Deco has decided to assign IP addresses in the range 192.168.1.x and the switch (even when set to use DCHP to request its own IP address) only seems to be able to look in the range 192.168.0.x. It works fine with the Virgin Superhub in router mode, but as soon as I put it in pass through mode and assign the DHCP function to the Deco, the switch is lost and after about 2-3 hours the whole network freezes (presumably due to IP conflicts).

If I use arp -a in terminal (I use mostly Mac OSx), when DHCP is with the Superhub, the attached devices all have 192.168.0.x addresses. When the Deco is attached, there seem also to be addresses at 146.x.x.x and 254.x.x.x.

Is anyone else having this problem? And if so, is there a solution? The forum replies suggest a firmware release promised over a year ago to allow the setting of the IP range for DHCP on the Deco, but this has not landed yet apparently. If this isn't solvable, I will be returning the Deco for a refund...

Generally speaking, TL-SG1016 has no DHCP function and the devices which are connecting to it will obtain IP address from previous router. How you connect all those network devices? In your case, it's recommended to disable wireles on your Virgin router.

There virgin router has wireless disabled. I am not worried about downstream items. It is the TL-SG1016 own IP address which it needs to have in order to log in to. The Deco is unable to assign an IP address to the switch itself
