Hello, folks.

I recently installed a TP-LINK TL-WA855RE in my apartment. It has been correctly set up, meaning it is located sufficiently close to the main router (signal strength at about -62dBm). The internet connection speed has shown normal values (I am in fact experiencing some loss in speed compared to the values measured on a direct wireless connection to the main router, but I assume that is expected).

Latency, however, has been an issue. I will present below the comparative results of a latency test. The first table presents the results of the direct wireless connection to the main router. The second one concerns the test using the repeater as access point. Both tests were conducted using the same parameters (as distance from the device, making sure that no other device was connected to the internet on that moment and so on). Also note that the main router is set as the DHCP, the range extender is set to have a Static IP and that I am in São Paulo, Brazil.

As you may have already noticed the second table presents higher values overall. That is, I assume, also expected. But I most interested on the variation of "max" values in the relation to the "median" values. Those are extremely higher on the second table. More precisely, range extender connection latency graphs show a "constant" oscillation pattern that do not occur if the connection is made directly to the main router. Because of this issue, online gaming, for instance, is made impossible, although video streaming (as Netflix) works just fine.

So, is there any configuration tweaks that could help me stabilize those latency issues? Or maybe is that a hardware malfunction?

Thank you, guys.

Extender firmware is up to date and contact to support has been made. Still waiting and looking for community insights, nonetheless.

Thank you.
