Repeater not working

I'm currently using a WR941N router and just bought a WR841HP to use as a repeater.
After I set up the repeater using quick config, not only does the repeater not connect (WDS status stuck at 'init'), but it also kills the preexisting network created by WR941N. I can't browse the internet or access the router config until I restart it.
