Archer VR600 5ghz network consistently dropping out

Model : Archer VR600
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version : 0.2.0 0.9.1 v0074.0 Build 170504 Rel.68210n
ISP : Spark
Can anyone help me figure out how to stop my 5ghz network from dropping?
Is there a way to reset the NVram of the Modem/Router?
Worked fine last year now every few hours 5ghz not working but 2ghz fine.
Only have a 3 devices on the 5ghz network, all other smart devices on the 2ghz band :
Mid 2015 Apple Mac (with Sierra OS)
[*]Panasonic 4K HDD (new 2017)
[*]Samsung S5 Smartphone (this drops back to 2ghz when 5ghz fails)
What I've tried:
Turning the Modem ON/OFF
[*]Restoring Factory settings then resetting up connections
[*]Rebooting
[*]Updating Firmware to latest version
[*]Then Reboot again
Only sets 5ghz back for a while
Just set:
5ghz mode to 802.11 ac/n mixed
[*]Set static channels on 2ghz to (6) and 5ghz to (36)
[*]Set static channels width to 20ghz and 5ghz to 40mhz
[*]Rebooted
Also trying with Samsung S5 on 2ghz as old device (but was ok last year)
Thanks

Recently I found the same issue on Australia forum. It seems someone suffering the same issue with you.
Do you have any chromecast or google home? Some technicist guys say if you use a Android Nougat or Oero to cast, the datapackets may cause the router freeze. Not only TPlink, but also netgare, asus.
You could go to whirlpool and search the VR600, i think you will find you want.
And in my opinion, did you try disable the 5g singal and only use 2.4g? It seems you have tried disable 2.4g but the issue more likely to occur on 5g.

Thanks. Yes been looking on the Whirlpool forum. Trying the suggestions - seems to be trial and error.
Have got Google Home but not used it for a while as have Netflix on the TV HD.
Not tried disabling 5g - mainly as the idea was to buy a new modem was to have improved 4K streaming experience.
So far seems ok overnight

I have just bought the vr600 and i have the exact same problem. Anyone has any solution yet? I've tried almost everything now. Thinking of returning the router for a refund...

Ok mine working so far fingers crossed. It's a trial and error
Thinking setting the WiFi schedule ON/OFF and setting up a Auto Reboot schedule has helped.
First Check:
Your device location to the Modem/Router
[*]Number or age of devices (they might be crashing the 5G network)
[*]Firmware version - is it uptodate?
Here's what I did:
Using the online tool ' http://tplinkmodem.net/' as has more advanced settings than the app
Checked to see if issue with new Firmware
Reset to ‘Factory Defaults’
[*]Reboot
[*]Reset up Connection and passwords
Test wifi again, still no joy then carry on
Update Firmware
Click on Advanced tab/System tools/Back and Restore
[*]Do a back of settings and put the zip somewhere safe
[*]Click on Firmware upgrade and upgrade to ‘0.2.0 0.9.1 v0074.0 Build 170504 Rel.68210n’
[*]Reboot
Set up static Wireless Channels
Try out various static channels, might be a clash with other network
Click on Advanced Tab/Wireless/Wireless Settings
[*]Set 2G to Channel ‘6’ (low channel)
[*]Click on 5G icon
[*]Set 5G to Channel ’48’ (high channel)
[*]Leave channel width as ‘Auto’
[*]Reboot
I also tinkered with the Channel Widths and modes to see what happened. But still dropped.
Set up Wireless Schedule
This will Auto turn off your WiFi ON/OFF and reset the connection. So 5G comes back.
Click on Advanced Tab/Wireless/Wireless Schedule
[*]Click the switch ‘ON’
[*]Set a time to turn off the WiFi eg, between 2am - 5am
[*]Click ‘SAVE’
note: make sure your Router clock is set to right time
Set up Auto Reboot
This reboot the Modem/Router every few days to clear temporary memory. Hopefully to prevent drops.
Click on Advanced tab/System tools/Reboot
[*]Turn Auto reboot on
[*]Set time to 3 am (eg when you don’t use WiFi)
note: make sure your Router clock is set to right time

Hi jakethepen,
thank you for the reply and also sorry for the delayed response as i was doing some test myself. I finally found the cause of my wifi issue. It is caused by my smart tv. Somehow it is not compatible and every time i connect my smart tv to the wifi, everything becomes unstable. Now, i can only connect it via wired connection. Hopefully there is a firmware that fixes this soon.

Sorry to jump on this thread but I have a similar issue. I bought my Archer VR600 a couple of weeks ago on the basis that this would be better than the talktalk super router. Everything has been fine up until today. This afternoon my router kicked all my WiFi devices out both on 2.5ghz and 5ghz the only way to solve this was to do a reboot of the router. Everything fine for a few hours then this evening the router kicked all my WiFi devices out again. I had to reboot again to get WiFi working. Is this going to be a regular thing or is there a permanent solution? Never had a problem with WiFi with the talktalk router.

I had also smilar problems
b,g,n or a/c/ac. Set the wifi mode to 1 each time (a or c or ac) NOT MIXED and try.
For me it helped the untick of SGI , puting 5ghz to high power transmit, chanel 48 , bandwith 80mhz. and MIXED!
UNTIL NOW (2 days) -- STABLE.
II thought it would help some of you ....
5ghz network consistently dropping out, 5ghz network disappearing!
I have somewhere read that short guard interval (SGI) is interfering with the wifi if its set to mixed,b,g,n or a/c/ac. Set the wifi mode to 1 each time (a or c or ac) NOT MIXED and try.
