Hi,

I am using an Archer VR2800 with Firware version: 0.3.0 0.9.1 v006c.0 Build 170809 Rel.42095n

I have successfully enabled the Parental Controls against Web Browsing by defining the Effective (blocked) Time and using an empty whitelist. However, this block has no effect against Apps (Facebook, Messenger) on my kids Android devices.

I need something that will effectively turn off all internet activity and am asking if there is another function or configuration that can be enabled in this modem to do so? If not, these parental controls are currently useless whilst they are using Apps on their smart devices.

Any assistance would be grateful.

The parental control on TPLink modem can only block some Web http/https request which is visible. But the Apps' data are all encrypted and hard to be recognized
Third-party application is needed to block the Apps. Like the Homecare offered by TrendMicro which is built-in at a Archer C5400 .

But a C5400 costs a lot

Thanks for that information Alec.

Based on that, the Parental Control function on the Archer VR2800 is half useless based on today's smart device usage?

If they could combine the function of Access Control and the time range of Parental Controls it would work correctly.

Any other suggestions considering I recently paid $350 for this modem?
