Noob question alert

I've read several reviews that suggest that if I have wired devices plugged into my router, and the first Deco plugged into my router (rather than my modem), then devices that are attached to my router will not be visible to wireless devices attached to the Deco.

Is this true, or is it because the reviewers have not ensured that the wired router devices and the Deco address ranges are in the same subnet, or that they haven't defined a route between subnets?

Supplementary question. If I leave the wireless network enabled my router (with a different SSID to the Deco WiFi), and again all the devices are in the same subnet (or there are routes defined), will devices that attach wirelessly to my router, be visible to devices that are wirelessly connected to the Deco 'mesh'?

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies. :)

I am not sure of your needs, but if you put the Deco in AP mode, you shouldn't have any problems at all, as the Deco nodes will act as an extension of your router network (the nodes will be in the same IP range). You may run into problems seeing other devices if using the Deco in Router mode connected to another router, but I can't say for sure. My own network is set up that way (modem > ISP router > Deco as router), and the Deco is in the 192.168.0.# range while the ISP router is 192.168.3.# range, but my devices only connect to the Deco network. In fact, I have wireless on the ISP router turned off completely to avoid interference.

At home I have something like the following, which sounds similar to your future configuration.

All the devices connected via the DECO will have an IP number in the range 192.168.0.x
But those devices can still connect to my other devices, like my NAS, having an IP number in the 192.168.2.x range.

Note: I have setup my DECO in router mode else I would lose some functionalities. If setup in AP mode then all devices connected to the DECO would have a IP number in the 192.168.2.x range and could also connect to everything.
