Hi, interested in the responses as I have the TL-WPA4220 Kit (v1.2) and looking for the firmware.
If I can ask a question about your WPA4220 Wifi upgrade? I've been on the website and downloaded what appears to be v 1.3.1 for the WPA4220 v1.2 (it extracts a .pib and a .mvm file neither of which are recognised formats in the powerline utility when I try to upgrade. If I download the firmware for the V1 I get a .bin file which works but its the same version as previous 1.2.9.

I have tried using the TP Utility where it alloows me to put in the pib and mvm locations but I get an update failed.

I'll wait for the feedback on the 4010 before trying that.

I got the firmware updated on my WPA4220 wifi units (although the web page admin still shows '

Firmware Version:

1.2.9 Build 160525 Rel.35241n'

I ensured I got the files from the uk-tp-link site and flashed them using the TP PLC utility connected via ethernet - this now shows 1.3.1.
I am also getting an issue with the 4010 so interesting to see if anyone has been able to flash these.

Flashing via Ethernet is much more reliable than over WiFi and - or your powerline network.

Also, If a firmware update fails part way through it can brick the adaptor. (No LEDs light when powered up). I uploaded the TP-Link recovery utility on a previous thread that can resolve this.

Wi-Fi Powerline extender is composed of two parts: powerline adapter part (PLC) and access point part (AP), which is like that we put a wired powerline adapter and a wireless access point into one box, and make them a Wi-Fi powerline extender.
the firmware for PLC part and the firmware for AP part are separated. So the firmware update for PLC part and AP part are independent and separated.
and most of other firmware of TL-WPA 4220 listed on tp-link website are the firmware for AP part. And the firmware for AP part is .bin file.
If you extract the file , see a .nvm file and a .pvb file, or a .ggl file. (The firmware is a .nvm file and a .pvb file combined, or a .ggl file, which is determined by the chips). This kind of firmware (firmware for PLC part) needs to be upgraded by tpPLC utility

Hi Today i tried to upgrade the pa4010 again and donwloaded the firmware from the official site, http://nl.tp-link.com/download/TL-PA4010_V1.html#Firmware
I ensured i'v got a version 1 but still no positive result. Please advise.

what's the country version of your 4010? do you see UK or EU behind the model number on the device?
If yours is a UK version adapter, then it can't upgrade to the EU version firmware.
