Hi all,

 

I'm having trouble configuring this model switch regarding the uplink port and would like your input on this matter.

 

We're working with the default VLAN (VLAN1) for configuring the ipv4 settings. Succesfully added the IP Addres, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway (Static route) and set the uplink port (Port 25) as untagged on VLAN1. After doing this and putting in on the network, we're still unable to connect to the switch.

 

The TP-LINK switch is getting its uplink from a Managed Cisco switch with Trunk configured on it and VLAN1 as untagged and all other VLANS as tagged.

 

Hope to receive some help for this. I find it very weird that it's not able to connect, because we've succesfully configured a TP-LINK SG1210MPE with the same settings.

 

Note: We've used this guide as well to configure the switch. accessing-the-switch (tp-link.com)

You have a CISCO switch on one side and a TP-Link switch on the other side. You have a port on the CISCO switch configured as a classic trunk port. That means its native VLAN is VLAN 1. That would correspond to a TP-Link switchport that is untagged in VLAN 1 and have its PVID set to 1. With this configuration, you shouldn’t have any issue to access the TP-Link switch from a workstation that is connected to any access port in VLAN 1 on the CISCO switch or to any port untagged in VLAN 1 and have its PVID set to 1 on the TP-Link switch. That really should be this simple as long as the VLAN configuration is concerned.

  @KJK Good news! It's working now. The uplink cable was faulty, don't know why i didn't think about checking this first. Thanks for the help!

You do not provide all details to say that for sure, but your VLAN configuration is probably correct. You shouldn't have any issues to access the switch from any workstation in VLAN 1. Have you rebooted the switches after changing the configuration?

  @KJK Yes, already tried rebooting. Still no uplink connectivity. Any other suggestions?
