My printer is having issues connecting to my PC, but not the other way around.

 

My Setup:

- I have 3x Deco M5 setup as Access Points.

- My ISP provided router has its 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels turned off.

- The printer is connected via wifi to the Deco mesh.

- My PC is connected directly via ethernet to my router.

 

I am able to open the Epson software on my PC and click scan, this finds the printer and completes with no issues.

But if I am at my printer and on its touchscreen I press scan, then my PC is not found.

I have to scan from my PC.

 

If I connect my PC to the Deco mesh rather than directly into the router, then my printer is able to find it. I would like to avoid this and keep my PC connected via ethernet to the router.

 

I have also noticed that my PC cannot find my home wifi speakers when on ethernet, but does when on wifi.

 

Are there any settings I should change on the Deco M5, the ISP router, or even the printer?

Hi, welcome to the community.

You can try to disable "Smart DHCP" on the Deco APP to see whether it makes any difference.

 

There are barely advanced features supported in AP mode, and as the Epson software on my PC can find the printer, I don't think there would be something wrong on the Deco.

It is also suggested to check whether there are any new driver or system updates for the printer and printer software.

 

By the way, have you tried to connect the PC to the other Ethernet port on the main Deco M5 to see whether the Epson printer/scanner can't find the PC?

Disabling Smart DHCP (and with a network reboot) did not solve the issue, the scanner still cannot find the PC.

I have also try reinstalling the drivers and software, and still no success.

 

If I plug my PC into the Deco via ethernet then it does solve the issue, also if I am connected via wifi to the Deco.

It seems to work as long as my PC is connected to the Deco network, rather than directly to my router.

 

Ideally, I would like to keep my PC plugged into the router due to port speeds (and to avoid redoing the cables...).
