Deco NTP Server
Hi,
Can someone advise if the Deco running in Wi-Fi Router mode, can act as a NTP server to a device connected via Ethernet, which is using a Static IP?
I have a device that gets its Time from a router, and it is not configurable to point it to a Time Server / Set the Time Zone, and it is currently not able to get the correct time from the Deco.
Any advice/assistance is appreciated.
Regards,
Gary

Hi, welcome to the community.
Can I have the model number of this Ethernet device?
Deco itself is getting a system time from external public NTP servers. Most devices are also getting time automatically from the internet, no need to specify the NTP servers.
So I think as long as this Ethernet device can access the internet, it can also sync system time automatically.
Wait for your reply and best regards.

Thanks for the reply, it is an intouch.2 WiFi Spa controller by Gecko Alliance and I have been discussing this with their technical support and have been advised:
1. The device uses the Router Only.
2. A NTP Server / Timezone can't be set.
3. I have confirmed in the App, that there are no settings available to set the "Time Source" and "Timezone".
I asked the question to their technical support "Is it possible to set an NTP Server and Time Zone, in the application in a future release? " and the response was "No because the unit pulls the time from the router it is connected to". I find it very hard to believe that in 2025 you would hard code the NTP source, presumable to the device you are getting a DHCP address from.
So hence question around can the Deco acts an NTP Server, and the other question, I have is when I do a lookup of time in the Deco App. It seems to take a few seconds to get the time/timezone information, so is the time stored in the Deco Devices or is it getting the time information from the Internet when required?
I have to say that coming from other devices, the limited access to a full-blown interface in the Deco's is a little strange, don't get me wrong they work and are easy to setup, but not being able to see how it gets it time, is also a little frustrating.

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.
Deco can only work as a NTP client and can't act as a NTP server.
Deco is getting the system automatically from the embedded public NTP servers, such as time-a-nist.gov and time-b-nist.gov.
Best regards.
