Archer BE800 as main router and Deco BE85 as mesh unit
Hi.
I have a Archer BE800 and have just ordered a Deco BE85 which I would have used as a Mesh unit, but as far as I can read those two units cannot work together in mesh?
Please tell me this is not the case. What are my options?

@mcpeterc Deco units are not EasyMesh compatible. You have to use Deco w/ other Deco or you can use your archer with another archer (or any other manufacturer that supports EasyMesh).

thanks.
I already have a ax50 wired as an ap. I will switch it out with the deco.
can I ask Why is archer and deco not mesh compatible? Any chance they will be in the future? Maybe with custom firmware?

I believe mesh technology is not mature enough, not standardized enough, hence each vendor and each family of products is based on proprietary, incompatible protocols.
I do not expect that we will soon see interoperable family of mesh products.

One could hope it would come one day especially since both units are from tp-link
