Unable to update firmware of AX73
Unable to update firmware of AX73
Am unable to update the firmware manually using web router login page & getting "Invalid file type" error. Have done factory reset of router using web login & also tried using the reset button behind router, but even after reset it not accepting the setup file. Also tried to download firmware from Indian TPLINK website & also Japanese TPLINK website and the error is same.

Hi,
If I may add a bit extra detail here.
The "FW region" of the router that terziyski mentioned is not so much about what country you choose when you load TP-Link's website.
For example, the "eu" after the "ax73v1" in the file name 'ax73v1-eu-up-ver1-0-2-P1[20201112-rel53967]_signed.bin' hints that this firmware can be installed on any Archer AX73 that has "Model: Archer AX73(EU) Ver 1.0" printed on the label that is stuck to the underside of the router. (provided the label has not been tampered with)
If one tried to install the file 'ax73v1-eu-up-ver1-0-2-P1[20201112-rel53967]_signed.bin' on a router whose label read "Model: Archer AX73(US) Ver 1.0" or "Model: Archer AX73(IN) Ver 1.0" or any other letters apart from "EU" inside the brackets, then the firmware upload would fail. (at least on most of TP-links's router models)

Here's how to determine HW version and FW region of the device.
After finding FW region follow this guide to upgrade manually or via TP-Link Cloud service.

hi @terziyski
am aware of the steps, but its not accepting any versions irrespective which region firmware is from.
my reason to to update the JP version due to multiple issues faced in current firmware and basis on community forum resolutions i tried updating to ax73v1-eu-up-ver1-0-2-P1[20201112-rel53967]_signed.bin
My Firmware Version: 1.0.1 Build 20200908 rel.69273(5553)
my Hardware Version: Archer AX73 v1.0

You can't update with FW from a different FW region or from different HW version. That's pointed in the upgrade guide I posted.
It's quite possible that your FW region is not an EU.

@terziyski this is the solution give in the forum and not my own trial and error method testing.
Also the version of hw is same.
But keeping that aside. I downloaded the Indian version of fw from Indian tplink support page for ax73 and it didn't even accept that.
And that's when I created this thread.

You are correct i had a check on the region and it came out to be US version.
I then went to US support website and the version available got updated without any hassles.
Now I am confused, whether I have to everytime goto us website for firmware updates as the Indian support website firmware didn't get accepted or shall I ask the dealer to give me an Indian version hw

I don't know how many different regional versions of the Archer AX73 TP-Link has made, but in most countries in the world either the US version or the EU (European Union) version are being sold.
For Mainland China TP-Link offers a whole different lineup of routers that aren't officially sold in any other country.
As you can see TP-Link's India website links to the "EU" version of the firmware, which can't be installed on your "US" version of the AX73.
Whether you download the "US" version of the firmware from TP-Link's US website or, for example, via the websites for Brasil, Korea or Australia doesn't really matter, as long as the firmware file has the "us" in its name.

woozle's explanation is correct, you need to upgrade the router firmware as per the region version printed on the label, you cannot install a US firmware on the EU hardware, or vice verse.
We will remind the Indian web admin to publish the latest firmware for the US version. I guess both EU and US versions are available in the local market now.
