"Weak Wifi Security" on iOS 14 (beta) for Deco M5
hi,
the lack of WPA3 support OR the ability to disable WPA have been plaguing the Deco product line for quite a while.
as if to make things worse, it seems that new device operating systems (desktop and mobile) are now gradually starting to classify WPA networks as unsafe.
this is a major issue because it would mean that someone like me that has a work iPhone (and laptop) won't be able to connect to my home Wifi (Deco M5 x 6) because the corporate security agent grabs the network classification from the operating system.
it is true that this is currently "just" an issue with people using developer betas of their iOS, but this is going to publicly released in mid September which would make this a significant issue.
so it basically boils down to this -
what is the ETA on providing firmware that would support WPA3?
as a quick and simple alternative - how fast can you release a firmware that allows disabling WPA?
PLEASE don't bother replying with "we're working on it" etc.
just be honest and tell us if/when these modifications are going to be made. even an honest "we won't do it" answer is better than the answers we have been getting in the past 10-12 months.

It worked for me.
The only problem I had was in the first attempt to upload the firmware using Chrome on a Mac. After that, I tried again and it worked. It looks like at the second attempt to upload the firmware, it works.
I have 3 Deco M5 and everything looks pretty stable.
Thank you TP Link but you could do it better. A lot of users were warning about it since the first iOS 14 beta 1 in July.

@TP-Link_Deco I understand it's not possible to use internet ui for the m9. How can you install the beta zip?

@TP-Link_Deco Just installed the new firmware... the Web UI is a bit glitchy... but I'm sure you're working on that... The AES WiFi security option is a bit buried, but I found it and am pleased that my devices are happy to connect without issue, and they've stopped complaining about "Weak Security".
Using the app I'm amazed to find the new "Optimize" option... I've run it and OMG my WiFi is even better that it was before! Brilliant!

Hello,
We have released the beta firmware for both Deco M5 and M4, so there won't be an issue, don't worry. Here is the download link for the beta firmware:

While there is currently not a plan to support WPA3 on the Deco M4, you may keep an eye on the official website in case there is any update:

Hello,
I think this may have been discussed multiple times on the forum that you need to update your Deco M9 Plus V2 firmware to the 1.4.0 via the Upgrade Tool manually, then you will have the web UI, see this post:

Thanks a lot~

Hello,
As per the web UI issue, yes, we will keep improving and enrich its features.
As per the option to change the wireless security, actually, there is no much need to modify it all the time as it is WPA2-PSK(AES) by default, but we agree that it may not be easy for some users to find it. We will also see how to improve it.
BTW, is your Deco device model M9 Plus? We do add the feature of "Network Optimization" for it, you may check if it will improve the mesh network performance and let us know your opinions.
Thanks a lot~
