Hi,

I have an Archer MR600 and a RE200 configured as a mesh network. I can see my main Wi-Fi network being extended seamlessly by my RE200, but not the guest network, which I have enabled and can see fine from my MR600. Is there a way to configure end nodes of a OneMesh to extend the guest network too?

For security, I use the guest network for my IoT devices that I only need to get connected to the internet but need no access to the local network or see other devices on the network.

Cheers,

Alastair

@Anders_B
Currently Range extender has to connect to router's main network to build a oneMesh network, as Guest Wi-Fi does not have the hidden SSID to build oneMesh.

If you have to use RE300 to extend a Guest Wi-Fi of a oneMesh router, it recommended setting it up in the ordinary way without OneMesh.

Thank you for your feedback, we will record your suggestion first for further evaluation.

@ally153 Extender can only extend the main/host network of MR600 with OneMesh. So the guest network will not be extended via RE200 via OneMesh.

If that's necessary, please use RE200 as a normal extender(Leave OneMesh), then connect RE200 to your guest network.

@Kevin_Z , @ally153

If there any chance that guest network will be supported as mesh node with MR600 and RE505X? I have the same situation private network for smart home (IoT stuff) and guest network for everybody (and guests of course), it seems ridiculous that we may not choose which network is extended.... Of course I have tried different topology (private network extended) but this is not option for me and probably 90% of advanced users...

I have bought many network devices from TP Link (Wifi extenders, Powerline extenders) all that from the top (newest) line, with the promise to have Mesh support and what I have now ? - bunch of useless electronics that makes my hardware crazy and very unstable because of switching between the APs...

Ok, let's assume that "real" mesh support on RE505X will never happen, what about TL-WPA8630P KIT (Powerlines)... They seemed to have firmware upgrade for mesh, could you then tell me when it comes - any ETA?

BTW:

Please respond ASAP at least about RE505X if there are any chances to support the Guest Network in One Mesh, I have a still few days left to send them back (internet purchase), so at least I will not lost my money for those extenders.

Best,

Krystian Kostecki.

@Kostek

Good day,

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

After checking with the senior engineers, if the extender is used to extend the guest network of the OneMesh router, RE505x could not be detected as a OneMesh extender;

It is more related to the OneMesh router since the router has no hidden SSID for guest network to set up the Onemesh network, so it would be the same for TL-WPA8630Pkit;

Thanks a lot for your understanding and support.

I have the same question but with different hardware.

How do I set up Guest Network with Mesh features on a Archer C80 with extender RE300?

Thanks,

Anders

Okay, I understand.

So the reason is the router and not the extender?

Thanks for a quick reply,

Anders

@Anders_B.  Hello, yes,  the reason is the router's oneMesh design.

@Solla-topee

Hi, do any TP Link routers support this hidden SSID for creating a mesh guest network? I have the same issue as everyone else here and have an AX11000 router.

Thanks.

@Michael_A_UK

Thanks for asking, I'm afraid we do not have a router which Guest Wi-Fi has the hidden SSID for oneMesh now.

Only main network SSID supports oneMesh.
