Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.7 Build 20191203 rel.80781(5553)

Hi Guys I'm having troubles with my router.

It really has been issue after issue since I bought it.

First the Wifi wasn't working properly so I updated the firmware to a Beta version that supposedly fixes the instability. It's better now, but not as stable as I would hope.

But what concerns me the most is that the Openvpn server it's not working, or at least i can't connect to it.

I've generated the certificate and exported the configuration. I've uploaded the config file to my Viscosity client (the one I use to connect to every openvpn server) and It doesn't work.

Additional info.

1) OpenVPN server:

Port-> 1194 , VPN/Subnet ->10.8.0.0 , NetMask -> 255.255.255.0

2) I can ping the router.

If I nmap port 1194 it shows as closed

If I enable dmz on one of my home IP's and nmap to port 80 (that specific server is running nginx) it shows as open

Does anybody have the same issues?

If you require further info, please ask.

thanks a lot!

As an update.

I Created a dummy server on my home machine with the port 1194 and added my ip as DMZ.

After that and from a VPS I was able to do a wget.

For me that shows that  The ISP isn't blocking the connection (I have my ISP modem/router in bridge mode, so the AX6000 gets the public IP)

As far as I can tell there's something wrong with the Openvpn server on the router or at least I'm missing some configuration

Also, I updated the firmware to: 1.0.7 Build 20200212 rel.7095(5553)

Any ideas?

Do this forums get checked by tp-link support?

I've tried everything I can think of to make the VPN work.

Right now I'm using a RPI3 to have a vpn server, since the one in the router does not work.

Could anyone from tp-link give me a hand?

@heimdall

Hello, apologies for not picking up your inquiry timely.

Please help verify some details and we will try to figure it out:

1. Kindly check the below VPN setup instructions again to confirm all the settings on the AX6000 are correct:

How to use OpenVPN to access your home network through the Wi-Fi Routers

BTW, please also provide us your network topology.

2. If the above guide doesn't help, please tell us what is the WAN IP address of the AX6000 and it is suggested to configure the DDNS:

How to set up TP-LINK DDNS on TP-Link Wireless Router?

3. Please check the VPN Tunnel: login the web interface, and on the VPN Server-> VPN Connections, we can see the status of the VPN Server, confirm if there is a VPN connection enabled. If not, which means the VPN setup is not successful.

4. Check whether you've set block ICMP from LAN port: we will block the ICMP from different LAN subnets by default, so if you don’t uncheck it, it will block this session.
