Model: Deco P7
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hello,

I have a pair of Deco P7 and have just bought an M3W to add on to the network. However the Deco app does not allow me to add the M3W to the network, saying that I need to update the firmware of the P7 first. The app also says that the P7 firmware is already the latest (1.2.0, 20190117). What should I do now?

Appreciate any ideas that could work.

Another related question: can the M3W function as a full mesh hub, or is it only an extender? By this I mean, can an M3W be placed in a system between 2 "full" Decos? So far in TP-Link's diagrams, the M3W is always shown only at the end of a chain.

Hello, the firmware has been released.

You can update it to the latest one and then you can use the M3W.

Hello, there will be a firmware released for Deco P7 soon, and then you can add the M3W to the P7 mesh network.

For the Deco M3w, it is a mesh range extender, no ethernet port, so it cannot work as a full mesh hub. It is mainly used to extend the mesh network.

Meanwhile, as you know, it has the lowest priority than other Deco models.

May it help and have a nice day.

I bought Deco M3W yersterday and can not join the Deco P7 network. What time will you provide latest firmware to fix the issue? It is no use now.

@Kevin_Z The M3W with firmware 1.0.4 Build 20190714 is not offering the funcionally to show what clients are assigned to the extender in the Deco App. Is this feature planned?

Hi @Kevin_Z

I have the same question, and unfortunately I didn't really understand your answer.

The question was 'can an M3W be placed in a system between 2 "full" Decos? So far in TP-Link's diagrams, the M3W is always shown only at the end of a chain.'

I'd like to put one M3W between two E4 models to improve the signal strength and throughput of the E4 at the end. Does that work?

Also, what do you mean with 'lowest priority'?

Thanks in advance!
