I just got Deco M5 installed and working. But I'm curious about two Ethernet ports. One is connected to a router CTS FWR5-3105, a device with ports for Ethernet (Deco M5 connected), optical fiber (Internet), and wi-fi. So what is other Ethernet port (in Deco M5) for? Is it a passthrough for a desktop computer without wi-fi hardware? Can I use Ethernet ports to connect desktop computers without their own wi-fi hardware?

There are 2 ethernet ports on each Deco, one for the internet source/modem, the other one can be used to get internet with wired cable connected. In other word, you can connect your desktop computer to the 2nd port to get internet.

I plugged M5 to a desktop computer without its own wi-fi, and it works. Windows 10 seems to think that it Internet connection is by the way of Ethernet. All seems to work as expected, no problems whatsoever. Though lack of instructions in this detail had me bit worried.

@Mgmsyq Yes you can; same as any other router.
I personnaly have a Deco M9 Plus set and, I have a NAS and an Ooma Telo plugged in a switch that is then plugged in the main Deco router second Ethernet port. This also gives me the option to plug my office laptop via Ethernet if I ver need to.
I assume the Deco M5 Ethernet ports has the same functions and, as such, if you Nas is the only equipement you need to connect by ethernet then, yes, you can use that port.

@Matti AFAIK another use for the ethernet ports, if you have a cabled network, is to connect the AP's through it instead of WiFi (Ethernet Backhaul)

With the Decos running in router mode, is the second ethernet port "behind" the deco's firewall?
