Hi Kevin,
Yes, that's the default wan DNS server on the router. I will change it to 1.1.1.1 then and I'll see how it goes. Thanks.

So I changed WAN DNS to 1.1.1.1 but after 7 hours I lost internet again on the TPlink router. Same scenario, I connected my device to the main modem and i was getting wireless internet connection. I switched back to the TPLINK wifi router, no go. Wifi status is connected but there's no internet traffic. I checked my mobile phone (which is connected to tplink wifi), no traffic. I connected my other laptop thru the ethernet cable on the tplink router, same thing no internet access. I cannot ping any website but I can ping the default gateway and the router.

Make sure you have the latest firmware installed on this router:

I see. Have you tried to switch the WR841HP to AP mode? Give that a go, then confirm the performance.
BTW, it is suggested to keep in touch with the engineers via email, they will help you out, thanks.

@Kevin_Z Hi, I know this is some months down the line, but I still feel it's a relevant thread.
Has there been any settings tweak/ firmware update to help with the Wi-Fi being unstable and slower? I can confirm that the Wi-Fi keeps dropping intermittently while those on Ethernet experience no problem. As an example, a TV which is near the router upstairs keeps showing Wi-Fi disconnected and a TP link extender downstairs keeps alternating between 1 and 3 bars of signal within a minute, indicating unstable Wi-Fi.

Is the WR841HP working as the main router? How many devices connected to it, wired and wirelessly, including the wireless extender and those connected to the extender? Try to modify the wireless settings, such as wireless channel and channel width, it is suggested to run a Wi-Fi analyzer to find a clear channel, then change the channel width to 20MHz, reboot the router and reconnect to the wireless network, then confirm.
