P110 Energy monitoring shows no historic data

Hi TP Link support,
no energy monitoring is possible with my 4 newly set up P110 units:
- firmware 1.1.6 Build 221114
- app on Andorid Tapo 2.11.44
What I tried so far:
- I already tried resetting the energy consumption and then the display changes to "<0.01kWh" but the next time I check the display is back to "-" (empty) again.
- I found another thread (link cannot be shared here due to error when I try to post my question) with a similar issue that was reported after a firmware update but I do not see any response from TP Link to get this solved and the solution there (app update) does not work as my app is already up to date.
- I tried the chat functionality for support but it was not available during normal working hours.
- I tried calling the support here in Germany but gave up after waiting for more than 15 minutes of hearing that my call is very important.
Energy monitoring was THE functionality why I bought this product and it simply does not work out of the box.
- How is you experience with customer support for this product?
- Shall I just return the unit and buy another model?
