Difficulty formatting SD card on Tapo C200 camera
I have purchased a Tapo C 200 camera and a 128 sd card from Amazon.
The camera is working ok but it will not format the SD card and I get a message that there was a problem formatting it. I have tried formatting with the camera/app without success. To test the SD card I formatted it in my Canon camera and it worked fine, recording photos as normal. I formatted in the Canon camera again and tried it in the Tapo 200 without success. I tried the reset button but got the same results. It would appear the camera is faulty in respect of the SD formatting.
Don’t want to return it if possible. Any suggestions.

Hello @kath_md
Thank you for sharing the photo, glad to know you have tried some suggestions in #60 recommended solution here.
Please ensure the Tapo APP and device firmware are both up to date.
Verify the SD card with H2testw software and share a photo with us ( NOTE: back up important files before run the test )
If anyone experiences the similar issue, please share the MAC address & SN number of the camera (share via private message )
And please also share a photo of the SD card.
When did you purchase the SD card, did it ever work on the camera for a certain time? What is the model of your phone? Thank you.

Hello,
I bought a Tapo C210.
Having problems with Kingston 128GB MicroSD card.
All tests made with FAT32.
The camera detects the MicroSD Card.
It fails the formatting, it gives an error to try again.
Please fix this issue, as this model can go up 256GB.

I'm having the same issue on my Tapo C310.
Purchased two Samsung Evo plus 128GB microSD SDXC U3 class 10 A2 memory card 130MB/S for both of my cameras. The initial format was fine and recording was fine for a month or so. Once they got full I started experiencing the same problems as in this thread.
Whenever I view the camera on the app I have the error of "New micros SD card Identified", when I try to initalize the SD card I receive an error that it failed to format.
What is the way forward? Purchase a 32GB SD card? If so any particular brand? I don't want to purchase another SD card, think all is fine and then I have the same issue on loop recording when the SD card is full.
Tried to contact the support team but no joy. If there is an SD card that can stand the test of time, I'm happy to get it but if not it's looking more likely that I'll just purchase a camera from a more reliable brand, as the Tapo experience has been disappointing to say the least..

@bodegaboy I gave up on the 128 and happy with 32gb which gives me 4/5 days of recording. I understand from previous posts that the Kingston 64gb works fine.. Hope that helps

@Foxtrotter thanks. What brand is your 32gb, do you do continuous recording and do what quality do you select to record?
Just asking in case those small details make a difference.
Did see a few mention the kingston 64gb but wonder if it stood the test of time.
