Firmware Version: 1.2.17

Hiya,

 

My C420 has stopped recording (I'm not sure when, exactly, as I've only just found time to get into this).

 

A few observations:

 

  • Battery is full
  • Latest firmware installed on both camera and H200 hub (shows full signal strength)
  • Set to record locally to H200 hub (SD card installed)
  • Live camera view working ok
  • Will record to H200 hub manually 
  • Motion, person and vehicle detection set to on with large detection zones and wake up sensitivity set to max (10)
  • Notifications set to always
  • Recording schedule set to always
  • Privacy mode off

 

Assistance appreciated!

Hi,
You can try the following steps.
   1. Please remove the SD card from the hub and insert it again, then check if it helps. You can try 2-3 times if it does not work once.
   2. Tap the hub on the Tapo app > go to mciroSD card page > enable the Loop Recording, tap C420 under Using Hub Storage > ensure the Save Recordings is enabled.
   3. If the problem remains, backup the video recordings from the SD card to your PC, then insert the SD card into the hub and format the SD card for a try.

Thanks for the reply.

 

I've tried all those steps multiple times - including trying a new SanDisk Extreme Micro SD card - and no change. Manual recordings continue to work.

 

Any next steps would be very much appreciated.

Hiya,

 

Just to add that I factory reset the camera this morning and then added again to the H200 hub. All options enabled/set to max (wake up sensitivity, etc.) and no change - no notifications and no recordings (although I can still manually record).

 

I'm not sure what else I can try?

Hi,
Please go to the Tapo app > Home tab > Bell icon > your camera page to check if you can receive a notification when the camera detects an event. If not, it may be the detection feature is not working.

Thanks for responding.

 

I've checked the bell icon: some of my other Tapo devices (smart plugs, contact and temperature sensors, etc) are sending notifications but nothing from the C420 Camera.

 

I've gone through each of the steps described in the thread you linked and double-checked all settings (detection zones all set to largest available + maximum sensitivity). 

 

No change - no notifications or recordings 😞 

 

Very grateful for next steps.

Hi,
Please provide the following information for the reported issue.
  1. Please go to the camera's Device Settings > Detection page and Notification page, and send me the pictures of these pages.
  2. Please go to the camera's Device Settings > Storage & Recording page, and send me a picture of this page, and a picture of the Recording Schedule page.
  3. Please go to the camera's Live View page and try to record a video manually showing there are motions in front of the camera, but the camera can't detect them. Then please send us the video.

 

You can upload the video and pictures to your cloud server(such as Google Drive), generate a link to download them, and send me(@Solla-topee) the link via a private message.
