Description
The mentioned models require local environment for firmware upgrades during specific firmware versions; remote firmware updates are not supported.
If your Tapo smart plug falls within the mentioned criteria, and encounters difficulties in firmware updates after receiving an update notification (e.g. Showing "Downloading" after clicking "Update" in the app, then switching back to "Update" without progress, or displaying an error like "Update Failed"), here are some suggestions to address this situation.
Tips for Firmware Local Upgrade
1. Internet access is required for firmware updates.
2. Make sure your mobile device and Tapo smart plug are connected to the same WiFi network (same subnet).
3. Turn off VPN, ad-blocking apps (e.g. AdGuard), or any other Apps that could disrupt the local discovery of the smart plug by Tapo App.
4. Ensure the smart plug is manageable with Tapo App.
