We have a fish tank connected to the Tapo smart power board. Really happy with it and love being able to control the fish tank light with the app and timer. However, I'd like to be able to 'lock' the other 2 plugs to ensure the filter and heater don't get switched off by accident - already did that once with a slip of a finger. The fish will all die if the filter gets turned off!

 

Is there a way to lock plugs? Or maybe to be able to set an alert for any issues to power supply for specific plugs so I know if the fish are in trouble?

This feature is not supported so far. You may consider moving the plugs to another Room or even creating another Home for them.  How to Use the Room Feature in the Tapo App <Click "My home" on the upper left corner to switch/create Homes.>

 

For this feature, you cast your vote to this feature request post and join the discussion there. Block possibility of accidentally powering the Tapo plug off

I’ve run into this issue too. While the Tapo P300 doesn’t have a way to "lock" plugs, here’s what I do:

  1. Set Timers/Schedules: I schedule the filter and heater to stay on automatically, reducing the risk of accidental shutdown.

  2. Enable Notifications: I set up notifications in the Tapo app to alert me if the plugs are turned off, so I can act quickly.

  3. Smart Plug Covers: For extra security, I’ve used physical covers over the plugs to prevent accidental switches.

These steps have helped me avoid issues, and hopefully, Tapo will add a "lock" feature in the future.
