Hi all,

I have a small business where I use a service called AudioFetch. For those not familiar with it, it is a device which is fed an audio feed and it streams it over an app to devices on a local network, just like how a lot of gyms are set up where you can listen to the TV above you as you run on the treadmill.

I do not use any elaborate system of access points, I use a few Deco's as that is all I need to use for my purposes. I put this system in back in the fall of 2024, and it has worked great for about 6 months. Never had any issues, people even complimented it. The issues started recently when some guests complained about choppy audio. Where I put two and two together is when I updated my phone this past Thursday to iOS 18.3.1 and now my phone too has issues on this network. The more I troubleshoot, I'm seeing that those having issues have iPhones with iOS 18.3.1.

I did some troubleshooting by watching my phone on the user interface for my Deco's, and it seems to be unnecessarily jumping around to different nodes on the network and unable to maintain a stable connection despite being very much so in range and being identified as a strong connection via the Decos. This is surprising to me as the mesh network would have more to do with handling the pass offs rather than the client, but this issue seems to be following the iOS.

I do not believe the issue has anything to do with AudioFetch as I have done a little research online and have seen others that have begun having issues maintaining a stable connection on their own home mesh networks after this update, with brands other than TP Link as well.

I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting, disabling MAC randomization on my phone, and can't seem to really get the same quality of connection I did pre-update, and roaming is a disaster. My Deco's are using the most recent firmware as well.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jay

I've got an iPhone 16 with iOS 18.3.1 and a BE65 3 Deco setup. Both the phone, wife's Andriod, and out 1 iPad's (also on the lastest iPADOS) have had no problems moving around the house and they do switch Deco units.

MAC Randomizing vs. Fixed can cause switching on networks with different IP Addresses. Mine is set to FIXED, that is it will have the same one all the time. You could also turn it off and the IP Address would change on different networks. This could play into it I guess?

So check the iPhone settings for Network,

What IS the Deco you have? Some have different settings, and the iPhone Deco App has more 'controls' than the Web GUI does.

For each device I have that 'moves' I have set the 'owner' and which if the DEFAULT Deco it connects too... I think that might help me rather than the device seeing a stronger Deco signal and jumping to it, it waits I guess until the assigned Deco's signal is too low?
