Cannot do it because the device's hardware version is V3 and you can only upgrade firmware for V3. Firmwares for V4 can only be applied on hardware V4. Is it clear?

Try to change DNS on MR3020 to 8.8.8.8 on DHCP---DHCP Settings page. Bypassing MR3020, can you access internet normally as before?

So with the old router, did you use 2 laptops Win 7& 1Pc Win 10 Preview to share homegroup? It should not be a configuration issue on the router. Those devices can ping each other?

A USB modem? Do you remember the version of previous firmware? You can downgrade it.
