Also, once the old phone was used to associate the camera to my cloud account, the web portal https://www.tplinkcloud.com/ recognised the camera and I could view and operate via that means as well

@Amenra Hi, I might have found a solution that could work for you I too had the same problem, so I eventually got an old phone that was running Android 5.0.1 I installed tpcamera from the play store...
