Do not see Night Mode settings on C210 and C220 cameras
I recently bought the Tapo C210 and C220 cameras for my home.
When I go under the ‘Video & Display’ setting, I do not see the option of ‘Night Mode Settings’. This option is available on the Tapo C320WS and C420S2 cameras that I have, and on the live screen, I have it set to Auto. All recordings at night time are shown in colour and are very clear.
Why is this option not availabe on the C210 and C220 cameras?
Currently on the C210 and C220, at night time when the cameras detect movement, the recording is very unclear, in Black & White, and the quality of the person detection is very poor.
Any advice?

Hi,
1. On the Tapo C320WS and Tapo C420, you can see the live feed and recordings in color when the camera detects events at night because they have spotlights. However, the Tapo C210 and Tapo C220 do not have the spotlights.
This is a difference in camera hardware and cannot be fixed through firmware.
2. Typically, if you have selected Auto Mode on the Tapo C210/Tapo C220's live view page, the camera will switch to Day mode or Night mode automatically based on the ambient light.
1) If the camera works in the Night mode in a dark environment, it's normal that the live view page is in black & white.
2) If the camera works in the Day mode(Auto Mode is set on the live view page) in a dark environment and causes the live view page/recordings unclear or very dark, this may be abnormal, since the camera should work in the Night mode. And I hope you can provide a video for further analysis.
You can upload the video to your cloud server(such as Google Drive), generate a link to download it and send us the link.
3. When more than two devices are streaming the camera simultaneously, the resolution will be less than 2K on some devices, so I suggest watching the camera on a device only and checking if the video quality is good.
Best Regards

Hi,
Different camera models vary in supported features. On the Tapo C320WS and Tapo C420, there are spotlights, with the night mode settings, you can set the spotlights to turn on all night or when detecting events at Night Mode to ensure the recorded videos are in color. However, the Tapo C210 and Tapo C220 do not have the spotlights, and when the camera works in the Night Mode, the recorded videos are in black & white.
If the video quality is not good, please go to the camera's Device Settings > Video & Display > Video Quality page to select the highest resolution and ensure only one device is watching the camera simultaneously.
Best Regards

Hi @@Solla-topee, thank you for your reply.
With the C210 and C220, I already have them on the highest resolution (2K and 2K QHD respectively).
I did a test on the detection of the C220 two days ago at night-time with no lights on, and you could hardly see the face. Everything else was very dark. I was expecting the recording to be in colour and to be able to see the face but the recording was virtually pitch black. I would post the video of the recording here but there is no feature to upload videos.
I did raise a ticket with Tapo support but their response was not really helpful - all they said was to change to night mode settings on the live view page. When I do change it to night mode settings (from Auto), the live page shows in black & white. I want to be able to view and record in colour.
On the C320WS and C420, I have Night Mode Settings set to 'Smart Mode'.
I am not sure what you mean by "ensure only one device is watching the camera simultaneously" - can you expand on this?
