Model: Tapo C225
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.11

Please have a look at the following screenshot of Tapo app.

As you can see, in playback, the time displayed on the video is different with the time on the time search bar. While time on time search bar is 21:59:09, time displayed on video is 21:58:52.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Make sure you had enabled continuous recording, and disabled privacy mode.
  2. Power off the camera.
  3. Wait for about 20 seconds or longer, then power on the camera again, and wait for it to boot.
  4. Let the camera record video for about 1 minute or longer.
  5. Playback the video from microSD card, start with the video recorded after the camera boot. You will notice the issue.

Temporary workaround:

  1. Enable privacy mode.
  2. Wait for about 20 seconds or longer.
  3. Disable privacy mode.
  4. Wait for the camera to record video for at least 1 minute or longer before you playback last recorded video.

Although enabling and disabling privacy mode won't fix the time issue on already recorded video, it will fix the time issue on video recorded after disabling privacy mode. However if you did not enable privacy mode before rebooting the camera (by power off and then power on again), the same issue will occur again after reboot. So, you need to enable privacy mode before power off / reboot your camera. After the camera reboot, you can disable privacy mode.

I had factory reset the camera. The same issue remain exist after factory reset.

At the time of this post, it is still within returnable period for my camera. So, I hope TP-Link will provide permanent solution before I decide to return.

Hi,
Thank you for the case report.
You can try to remove the SD card from the camera > connect it to your computer by an SD card adapter, back up the video recordings to your computer > then insert the SD card into the camera > format it via the Tapo app, and then check if the problem is solved.
Best Regards

Hi,
What's your Tapo app version? You can try to uninstall the Tapo app and reinstall it, make sure the Tapo app is the latest one, and then check if the problem is resolved.
Best Regards

Tuesday

  @Solla-topee

I have that too.
But if I change the speed during playback with the (Speed) button in the upper right corner,

the video jumps a bit and already shows the time indicated in the search bar and plays the recorded event!
Even if I choose 1X speed, pressing one of the values is the point.
