C110 Low Quality Video
C110 Low Quality Video
Hi everyone,
Can anyone please help me? I've recently added a C110 to my group of C100 Tapo cameras, and the video quality is very low compared to the C100's. The C100's are HD (1920x1080) and the C110 is 2K. A C100 in the same room has much a much better image quality than the C110. The quality is low when recording to an SD card as well in the app, so I believe it is either a faulty camera or a setting issue.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Many thanks.

Hi,
The Tapo C110 and C100's Video Compression is H.264, and it can't be changed. To confirm if the Tapo C110 has an issue, please provide the camera's original picture of the live view page without zoom-in for analysis. Please ensure the two cameras are in the same position, monitor the same scene, and are set to the highest video quality.
Btw, you may use the cameras to monitor other scenes rather than a book only.
Best Regards

I've found the difference between the TC70 1080p camera and C220 2K camera to be minimal due to the bitrate of the H264 stream; there's a video about it here; https://youtu.be/3Vx7y3aA6uE
Using H264 is fine (you can use that with things like 4K movies and the image looks excellent), but when it's set to a low bitrate you'll end up with excessive blocking like we see in the video & the images on this thread. Giving customers no control over the bitrate is part of the problem here, I believe.

@Solla-topee Hi again,
I've discovered the problem. I managed to get a recording from a C100 running at 1920x1080p, and another from the C110 running at 2K.
I've pasted the mediainfo below. As you can see, the problem is the compression; the C100 has an overall bitrate of almost double the bitrate of the C110, even though it should have a higher bitrate to maintain the same quality as it's a higher resolution. The C100 is on the left, and the C110 is on the right.
Can you please tell me how to change in the bitrate on the C110 SD card recordings? I can't see any option anywhere.
Thanks

Hi,
The Tapo cameras do not support changing the bit rate. This comparison result is not accurate for the following reasons:
1. Tapo Camera uses a Variable Bit Rate mode, its bit rate will change according to the complexity of the monitoring scene and whether the monitoring content is static or dynamic. Generally, the more complex the monitoring scene is, and the more motion occurs in the monitoring scene, the higher the bit rate will be.
2. The duration of the two compared videos is different, and the scenes may also be different. The duration of the C110 video is almost twice that of the C100.
To confirm if the Tapo C110 has an issue, you can provide the cameras' video recordings for analysis when the two cameras are in the same position, monitor the same scene, and are set to the highest video quality.
You can upload the videos to your cloud server(such as Google Drive), generate a link to download them, and then send me the link via a private message.
Best Regards
