I don't understand why the boiler doesn't turn on when I connect the smart socket.

Tapo P125M (IT) version does support an energy monitoring feature. If you own a US version, that's a different story.
Is the plug itself receiving power? Is its LED indicator lit up?
Are you saying the plug cannot turn on the boiler? Did you try to the power button? How about connecting other appliances?
What's the power and rated current of the boiler?

The TP-Link Tapo P125M is not functioning with your electric water heater likely due to compatibility issues or high power requirements. Check the following:
-
Power Rating: Ensure the Tapo P125M's power rating (up to 15A) can handle the water heater’s load. Electric water heaters often exceed this limit.
-
Connection: Verify the socket connection is secure and the device is properly plugged in.
-
Firmware: Make sure the Tapo P125M has the latest firmware update.
-
Compatibility: Some high-power appliances are not compatible with smart plugs designed for lower power devices.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, consider using a smart plug with a higher power rating suitable for heavy-duty appliances.
