Very bad audio quality
Good morning, I recently purchased 3 C520WS cameras, a C320WS and a C100, all 5 have terrible audio quality, it seems as if there was an anti-noise filter, which attenuates too much what you want to hear. Conversations between people if they are not 3 meters from the cameras are incomprehensible, you can't even hear passing cars. They are installed in a mountain area where there is no background noise, why not be able to choose whether to deactivate this anti-noise filter? Previously I had 4 cameras from another brand, I could choose to completely turn off a noise filter in the settings. in that case you could hear background noise, but that was fine for me, conversations between people were clear and understandable even if they were more than 15 meters away. With Tapo this is not possible. I'm really disappointed by this.
What good is audio on a video camera if half the sentences are muffled and unintelligible?

Hi,
Thank you for the case report, and please help confirm the following information for further analysis.
1. Send me(@Solla-topee) the MAC addresses of the cameras via a private message with the format "Forum ID 658276+camera's model+MAC address".
On the camera's Device Settings>Device Info page, you can find its MAC address.
2. Please help provide the video showing the problem. For example, when people are away from the camera 3 meters and talking in front of the camera, please set the camera's speaker and microphone value to the highest one, and then record the video manually on the Tapo app and send us the video.
Best Regards

@LoryBernooo I had the same problem with the c-120s. I contacted support they sent them a video. They gave me a different firmware and now the sound is great

Apparantly C220 also have same issue with my current fw 1.1.6
You can't hear people clearly because the sound is cut in between (suppressed) by noise cancellation. Attaching a video sample of garbage truck moving by with loudspeaker on -- blaring announcement. You can't make out anything from the announcement.

@Solla-topee Good morning, to date I have expanded the number of Tapo cameras. the 5 C520WS models after a firmware update the sound is slightly improved but still too poor. This sort of filter persists that doesn't allow you to understand what people say unless they speak out loud. I still have the problem on practically all the others. Now I also own 4 C320SW, a C100, a C220, but as already said in my first post, in my opinion it is not a quality problem, but I believe there is always some filter that suppresses background noise. Before purchasing Tapo, I had another brand that gave the possibility of removing this filter (had a "disable noise filter" option), I was even able to hear the sound of crickets in the external cameras. We're not there yet with these…
I apologize for the late response. In the next few days I will try to record a video comparison with Tapo and an old IP camera from another brand. In the meantime I'll send you the Mac of the cameras for the new firmware. However, as a customer who really likes me with Tapo, I would expect a firmware for all users who can choose whether or not to activate this filter, not just fixes that slightly improve the problem.
Thanks to TP-Link support!
