Camera LED shows Solid Red afters firmware update
Hello All,
The Tapo C500 is showing LED status as solid Red after the recent firmware update. The reboot or reset is not solving the problem. The switching off and on the power line solves the issue for sometime and again the status turns Solid Red within 10 mins. The recent firmware update was 1.1.3 Build 231213 Rel. 37124n and there was no interruptions during the update.
I have attached the photo as well. Please help to solve this issue ASAP.
Regards,

Hi,
The System LED on the Tapo C500 looks like solid amber rather than solid red. Please help confirm the following information for the reported case.
1. Unplug the power to the camera, wait for 10 seconds, power it on. If the camera has a solid green later, go to the camera's Device Settings>Device Info page, check the MAC address, tap the Wi-Fi icon, and send me the value of the signal strength.
2. When the camera has a solid amber light, please try to remove it from the Tapo app, and check if the LED will turn to flashing amber and green. If so, try to reconfigure it and check if it will work.

Hi @Solla-topee,
Greetings!
Thanks for your quick response. Please find the details below:
1. I unplugged the power for 1 min and again powered on the device.
MAC: 40-ED-00-53-7B-BD
Wi-fi strength: -60 (RSSI)
2. I removed the device from Tapo App when the LED turned Amber (sometime looks Red for me). The device didn't automatically turned to Amber/Green. I had to reset manually to reconfigure again the device. This worked almost for a day but from today morning, again the issue is back. The LED status is Red, please find the below photo.
Note: The best part is the device is shown offline in the App and doesn't show the Live data but it's recording every schedule and putting it in the SD card. Hence I assume something wrong with firmware.

Hi,
You can refer to the link below to troubleshoot if your camera keeps going offline.
What should I do if my Tapo smart camera keeps losing connection or going Offline?
Please help confirm the following information if the problem remains.
1. Describe your network diagram, such as the internet cable--router)))((( camera, phone, etc.
2. What's the model number of your router? Is the camera connected to the router's Wi-Fi directly?
Since the storage settings you configured on the camera still working when the camera has no internet, it will continue to store the corresponding recordings to the inserted SD card.

@Solla-topee hello. I noticed the same thing happened on one of my c500. The firmware was auto updated to 1.1.3, my other c500 is still on 1.1.2. They're both on auto update. The c500 on firmware 1.1.3 is showing as offline in the app but it was still connected to my router. I am in the US and the camera is in the Philippines so it will be difficult to take any pictures. I did have my cousin unplug and replug the camera to see if that would work but no luck and it was no longer connected to router after that. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
1. Since we roll out the new firmware gradually, some cameras may detect and update to the new firmware, and some do not. Please wait patiently, the new firmware will be available on all your cameras.
2. You can reboot the router the Tapo C500 connects to and check if it helps. If not, please ensure the router has an internet connection, and then you can factory reset the camera and reconfigure it for a try.

hi solla, i have my C500 less than a week, i checked on the device setting and the signal strength are around -65 to -71 RSSI. i checked the ping and it worked just fine. Try to reboot and attached - unattached the power for 1 minutes -- the LED still on solid green which means it's still recording -- but i looked on Tapo APP, i can't move the camera.
i have 2 C500 that i got less than a week ago, one is perfectly fine. What should i do to troubleshoot this problem? Thanks

Hi,
If your Tapo C500 has a solid green light and shows online on the Tapo app but you can't pan & tilt the camera, please check if you can pan & tilt the camera manually with your hand.
Are you powering on the camera with the original power adapter that comes with the camera?
The camera's signal strength is not good, you can move the router and camera closer if possible and check if it helps.
