Model: Tapo C200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.8

Sorry for starting a new thread. There is already a thread called Date and Time does not update. but it's on page 5 already and until now there is now solution. I like to bring it up and it looks like, the only way is to start a new thread.

Now guys from TP-Link, tell me please, why are you selling a so nice peace of hardware like the C200 together with a so crappy software (firmware) ...???

At the moment I'm using 3 C200 and 1 C310 plus a few P100/P105. All of them don't know the correct time, that's why so many things are not working. The schedule part for example can't work properly without knowing time and date.

In the thread I have mentioned I have read - sorry - many nonsense from you but there was no solution. And the only solution for many users here is, to return there TAPO devices to the seller and try another brand. Is this what you like them to do ...???

It's very simple, check your settings using ONVIF Device Manager and check your cameras. In case you don't know it, you can download it from https://sourceforge.net/projects/onvifdm/ for example.

For my C310 it shows me:

Here I can switch DHCP to 'OFF' for example and change my setting. With the settings above my cam will work well and it's using the correct time and date. And of course, I can save my settings as long I don't reboot my camera. After a reboot it's going back to the old settings from the cloud. This issue should be easy to fix on your side.

And now let's do the same for C200:

Can you see the difference already? Yes, you are right, I can't change DHCP to 'OFF', at least not really. I can change it but I can't save my changes so it will go back to the old settings after pressing 'Apply' and with the old setting the camera don't know correct time & date.

Is this really to complicated for your developers to fix it?

Do something before you have ruined the reputation of TAPO totally!!!

@gboelter Try the ONVIF Device Manager from Sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/projects/onvifdm/), connect to your camera and change 'Time Settings' to 'Synchronize with Computer Time'.

Not sure about the latest Firmware Update because I don't use Tapo anymore. In my case it was working but I had to do it again after a reboot of my camera.

Good Luck!!

@gboelter Hello,

Thank you for your feedback, you could try some suggestions below:

  • Tapo Camera requires Internet to synchronize time from NTP servers, if only control tapo in local network,  please allow Tapo device access Internet (Green Led) and see if they could get correct time.
  • Turn off NVR or 3rd party software and reboot camera in case some onvif software affects the time on tapo device
  • Tapo app--Camera Settings- Time zone, make camera is on the correct time zone
  • Turn off Modem/ router Firewall settings during test

If same issue persists, please let us know the troubleshooting steps you have tried and also help confirm some information here:

  1. Your Network topology : for example router Model archer C7  ))))(( Tapo C200 & mobile phone
  2. A photo showing incorrect time on Tapo device :
  3. Mac address of one of the camera showing incorrect time:
  4. Tapo app version:
  5. Model of your phone & its Android or IOS version:

For 'Actually 1 of my 3 C200 shows wrong time & date, the others are ok at the moment.' May I know the MAC address of the problematic camera?

Thank you very much.

Good Morning @Solla-topee,

I have tried what you have told me but it makes no difference.

The MAC addresses of my 3 C200 are:

CC-32-E5-01-5A-41 Wrong date (04/27/2021)

28-EE-52-94-14-FF Date is OK

28-EE-52-77-FA-BB Date is OK

Can it be that the first one - the one showing the wrong date - is from a different manufacturer/plant or what ever because the OUI {Organizationally Unique Identifier} is different from the other ones?

I also have problems with time, since last firmware update.

I have 2 x C200 with firmware 1.1.11 Build 210625 Rel.56514n(4555) and

1 x C310 with firmware 1.0.14 Build 210118 Rel58915n(4555).

They all change the time back and forth every few minutes, adding or removing 1-4 hours.

@Solla-topee This link is nonsens. Guys, you really should stop blaming your customers, blame you software developers for this crappy firmware.

From my understanding, your hardware is really good and very affordable. Your problem is your crappy firmware.

Tell me at least one reason why the time-server is hardcoded in your firmware, why ...????

@gboelter Hello,

If camera does not synchronize time from its predetermined NTP servers according to device time zone, may I know do you have better idea to let camera obtain accurate time more reliably? From local PC/ NVR/ or third party software ?

Besides, the purpose of  that thread is to provide some feasible troubleshooting suggestions for users who met similar issue and also add some notes why that step may help.

We welcome constructive feedback on the suggestions in that thread.

@gboelter I have tried it. Like the other messages in this subject, it doesn't work.
The time still jumps around, making the recordings useless.

I have already tried the tips in the link.
I can't have a product that has to be reconfigured every reboot.
