2022/06 update troubleshooting step
Hello everyone,
If your TapoP100 failed the firmware update or stuck at the firmware update, kindly try some tips here
1. Unplug plug and plug it back and try firmware update again on Tapo APP
2. Connect your phone to Home WiFi network and try update
3. Try to connect phone to a different network like LTE mobile data or a non-local network like office wifi etc.
4. If you've tried the above step but still does not work, try to factory reset the tapo plug and reinstall it in the app, at the end of setup process in the app, plug will try to update the latest firmware. If this still failed, connect tapo device a mobile hotspot wifi and update firmware.

@Lordvader Good day,
Thank you for your clear post. You could factory reset Tapo plug and set it up again on app and try firmware upgrade.
Also make sure Tapo app is up to date .
Factory reset : Power on smart tapo plug, press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds to restore your smart socket to factory default settings.

@Lee1234 Good day,
From your tp-link ID, the tapo plugs are offline right now.Besides firewall settings on router, please double-check if there is any port restriction or access control advanced settings on router ~You could change a different DNS for router, primary DNS: 8.8.8.8,Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4If there is any range extender or a 2nd router or AP, please remove that first.If still the same problem, May I know the model number of your router and your network topology?May I know how about the Led Status on the plug which could not upgrade Firmware ?Can you send me the MAC address of the plugs that failed to upgrade firmware by email, we send you a follow-up email ,title is 【Forum ID 255372 】.
@Solla-topee Good Morning, same problem here with a P100, firmware is still '1.3.4 Build 20200925 Rel 33922' and no update available. My DNS is set to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 but I have tried different combinations like 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 too. The LED Status is off, MAC is 84-D8-1B-12-42-40. Switch itself is working but Schedule don't at all.

@gboelter Hello,
The plug is offline on the cloud from its MAC address.
It is recommended to factory reset your tapo plug and reinstall it is on Tapo app. Make sure it has a green Led and you could control it remotely ( when phone is on cellular data or non-local Wi-Fi, plug still can be controlled on tapo app ).
(Reset : with device powered on, press power button for more than 5 secs, it should flash amber and green)

Same problem here.
I bought a new box with 2 tapo p100 sockets (Tapo P100(2-pack)(EU) Ver 1.20 - S/N:2213339X02074) and only one of them has updated to the latest firmware version
I have factory reset/reconnect the plug many times but always have the "update failed" message.
Device info :
Model : P100
MAC : E8-48-B8-94-62-87
Hardware Version : 1.20.0
Firmware Version : 1.4.5 Build 20210122 Rel. 57265 (and it fails to update at 1.4.9 build 20210621 Rel. 30941)
Is any solution for this problem?
Thanks

@Solla-topee same here with several plugs, stuck at 1.4.3 and fails to update. DNS at 8.8.8.8, no firewall. tried different ISPs, nothing.
update just cancels out at "downloading 0%". since this update has a feature I need (restore state after power off) i'd appreciate a fix.
