Model: HS110
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

I have multiple tp-link smartplugs in my home.

Suddenly (at least) two of them started behaving strange in the last week(s). They randomly turned off and on again which lead to a power outage of the connected devices (e. g. PC turning off, TV restarting). I have not checked all plugs, since some are not easily accessible, so more could be affected as well, hopefully not.

Seems to be the same problem as described here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/tp-link-kasa-hs110-switch-off-randomly/249906

I unplugged them and now I can't connect them (or factory reset them) anymore. I also hear some kind of electrical sound wgen plugging them in. I guess this is the same problem as described here: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/191448

What can I do?

I use a Fritz Box as a router and had no problems so far.

I also use Home Assistant and, of course, this could be related to these firmware "updates". I did not do them actively, so this might not be related at all.

@_THO_

Hi, Thank you very much for your kind feedback.

We used to get several feedbacks and all are related to HS110 V4 and could you please double check whether you have V4 or V3?

How about the region code as well, UK, or EU?

Thanks a lot.

@TP-Link Thank you for your informed answer. Both plugs are (as written on the serial number sticker):

Model: HS110(EU) Ver:3.0

I have some plugs with HS110(EU) Ver:3.1 and they do not seem to be affected right now. However, the kasa App shows "Hardware-Version 2.0" in this case.

I don't have the kasa information for the Ver:3.0, since I can not connect.

@_THO_

Good day,

Thank you very much for your kind reply.

We would like to follow up on your case by email and at the same time, could you please help me check the following information:

1. What Is the model number of your home router?

2. Would the HS110 V3 randomly turn off then back on without any load connected?

3. How long have you had HS110 and when did this issue start, and is there any change related to the plug recently?

Thanks a lot for your understanding and support.

@TP-Link Sure, just send me an e-mail.

Regarding your questions:

1. Home Router: FRITZ!Box 7580, running FRITZ!OS  07.21 (installed on 2020-10-08)

2. Random turnoffs without load: I did not experience that. However, I just realized that my devices turned off when running.

3. Recent changes: Last time I bought plugs was a year ago (2019-11-07) but it could be that they are even older. No recent changes that I am aware of.
- For the plug behind my TV and my AV-receiver I did not change anything since ~January.

- I added a second monitor to the plug of my PC around August.

- I run a firmware upgrade in the kasa app some weeks ago. As far as I remember correctly, only the HS100 was getting that. Can I check that somehow?

@TP-Link Do you get in touch via e-mail or should I send an e-mail to a specific support address?
