Model: Tapo D235
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.14

Posted as a reply to another thread but just in case:

Had a Ring Doorbell4 installed for the past 3 years (hardwired from existing doorbell) with no issues...just sick of paying £50 a year subscription...

Installed the Tapo D235 and my Byron chime just won't stop buzzing - The bypass cable stops the power going to d235 (have tried varies combinations); without it, it does power the doorbell but makes a continuous buzz...

Any solutions please?

Found this on Reddit related to a Ring DB but same chime, can anyone confirm if this would resolve?

For reference for anyone else, the transformer is connected to terminals 3 and 2. Power goes to 3, through the chime and out to 0 (0 Would be your Front). 2 and 1 are normally joined together, so are the same thing (This would be Trans). For doorbell wired you are removing the wire from 0, and connecting it with the bypass cable to the 3 terminal."

Would moving from 0 to 3 fix it?

I can confirm that wiring to  2 and 3 fixes the issue and I now have hardwire power to device without buzzing from the chime

  @GusB

Aaaaaah now it only lasts 30mins or so then goes back to battery power.... reconnecting makes it work on a temporary basis then stops again.

What is going on here

@Wayne-TP any support appreciated 🙏

As mentioned in my previous response in this thread, Tapo D235 and Byron 776 Chime (with Transformer), if you have the same Byron chime with transformer, which only provides a maximum output of 8V 1A AC, this is not suitable for connecting to doorbells that require a higher voltage.

Therefore, we're unable to provide you with any suggestions. You may want to continue searching online to see if anyone has shared relevant experiences, or you could contact the brand's support team for assistance.

However, we still need to stress that for safety reasons, you must strictly adhere to the product's installation instructions when using it. This is crucial to avoid potential product damage or even more serious safety incidents.
