Tapo D235 video doorbell Power Options
Hi,
I will receive my new D235 today, but I have two questions.
It should be hard-wired, like my existing Nest and with 24/7 recording (probably via ONVIF/RTSP to my Unifi Protect and/or on SDCard).
1.) Can It be directly connected to the transfomer (Model with 12V/2A or 24V/1A) without looping through the old chime (it's useless anyway, with the necessary shortcut it won't work) so why not connect directly?
2.) Is it possible to remove the battery and power it really just over the hard-wired transformer supply?
The reason for this: The doorbell is in direct sunlight and it will get extremely hot during summer - not the best combination with a battery (and I don't need it at all, it's hard-wired)...
Is it possible?
THANX!

Check the below installation guide for Tapo D235 doorbell. Device battery cannot be removed. The operating temperature of the D235 is -20℃ ~ 45℃, so the doorbell will not be affected much when it is installed in a normal outdoor environment and under sunlight.

@Wayne-TP Can i use Transformer 240V AC to 12V DC 1.5A 18W Constant Voltage, or another AC to DC transformer, because i don't have old doorbell installation, i need to make new one for my D235 doorbell, or D235 only support AC to AC transformers?

It doesn't matter whether the transformer is an AC to DC type or a DC to DC type. But if you use a DC to DC transformer, select one with an output greater than 12V.

@Wayne-TP The question was whether you can connect a 230 V converter with DC output, because an AC connection is required in the operating instructions

Tapo D235 doorbell is AC/DC input. Whether using an AC-DC or DC-DC transformer or converter, the most important thing is the output, make sure the transformer/converter's output meets the product requirements -- for Tapo D235, it is 8-24V (if the output of the transformer is DC, please make sure the voltage is 10V-24V), and the minimal power is 10VA.
