@GumperP   I'm following this with interest and have the same or a very similar issue.

We installed our new TC82 Tapo camera with solar panel in January 2025 and it worked brilliantly for the first few weeks, with an average charge level of around 95%.   Now, however, the battery is draining from 100% within about 18-24 hours despite no change in activations, location or even the weather to affect its solar panel.  It also discharges when switched off at the power button.

To test whether the camera is waking too often we have:

• Turned off all detection types, ie motion, person, pet and vehicle detection

• Turned off all notifications

• Turned off all event recording

• Set the Wake Up sensitivity to 1

• Switched the Working Mode to 'power saving' to minimise power usage

• Placed the camera next to the router to achieve full signal strength

• Ambient temperature is approx 18°C indoors where the camera is being tested with the solar panel disconnected

However, the battery continues to discharge rapidly.

Therefore we checked via the app:

• 'Battery Usage' - this shows the battery depleting steadily from 100% following a manual USBC charge

• 'Time of Use' - shows usage at around a total of 7-23 minutes per day, ie the times we manually check the battery usage via the app.  

• 'Wake up times' - these are zero because the camera is not being triggered because all detection is switched off and the camera is effectively turned off.

With the battery lasting for only 7-23 minutes of use rather than the 'up to 180 days' as promoted, this suggests the battery is failing to hold its charge.

To test this, we charged the battery to 80% then switched the camera to 'off' so without it being active, there is absolutely no drain on it.  The camera was left overnight and about 8 hours later, the charge had dropped to 33% while switched off.

Clearly something is very wrong with our camera and its battery discharging rapidly when the camera is not even in use.  

Our camera was purchased from Amazon on 21 December 2024 so is under manufacturer's 2 year warranty.  Firmware appears current at 1.0.3.

Has anyone found a solution or have the cameras/batteries been confirmed as defective?

I purchased this recently and not even able to get a full 24 hours out of the battery.

Product is not fit for purpose. Will send it back and find a better solution.
