Multiple Tapo P100 offline & factory reset not working
Hi there,
I have three P100 that have been failing to connect for about 10 days now.
Two of them are not easily accessible, so I've been trying with just the third one so far. That one was actually the first one to fail, the two others failed a couple days later.
Unplugging and plugging it back in did nothing, LED is fixed green but it's not connected in the Tapo app and it's not connected either on my wifi access point.
Trying to do a factory reset (10 sec button press) in that situation does absolutely nothing.
When I plug it out and then immediately back in, the LED becomes fixed orange (no idea why that changes), it's still nowhere to be seen in the app or the wifi AP.
And trying to do a factory reset (10 sec button press) in that situation also does absolutely nothing.
When I plug it out and then immediately back in, the LED is still fixed orange. But after some undetermined amount of time being unplugged, the LED goes back to fixed green...
I do want to point out that the P100 is still passing current no problem in all these situations.
At this point, I don't think there's much more I can possibly do and feel like I have potentially 3 dead weights...
Anyone ever encountered this kind of behaviour ?

@sCinix There is no fix, it's dead. I've had another one of mine die on me a couple days ago... same behaviour. There's just no way out of this situation, no matter how much manipulations you're ready to do (TP-Link support was unable to help me). It just lights up solid orange or green, all the while having other models working fine on the same network, meaning it's beyond salvation and absolutely not worth any more of your time. As it's not under warranty anymore, you can just toss it and replace it with another one. You can try looking into a more reliable brand... but that may come out more expensive. It comes down to the question of is 4 years an appropriate lifetime for a ~10/15 bucks product.

Another one bites the dust... and a new addition to my paperweight collection.

Same issue here similar age device, just stopped responding one day, reset button does nothing nor does leaving it disconnected for several days.
Just has the solid 'orange light of death'

- Leave the smart plug unplugged for some time, like 10-15 mins or hours. And disconnect the appliance.
- Plug in the smart plug, wait until it boots up completely.
- Try to factory reset it again. How to factory reset the Tapo smart plug
If the smart plug still does not respond to the reset, contact retailer or the local TP-Link support to proceed with the warranty.
