Doorbell D230S1 is not recording
Hi,
Bought this doorbell a few days ago. As I have chosen Tapo for all my other cameras the choice was easy.
I have run into issues though. It just simply wont record.
I get notifications that a vehicle passed for example but nothing is recorded.
I turned on all detection and put the sensitivity to the max just to see if I missed anything but still no recording.
The wake-up setting is set to "Event detected" and sensitivity is 10.
Am I wrong or should it not work like an ordinary Tapo camera when it detects something and record whatever it detects?
Then the actual doorbell feature is kinda "stand alone" if you understand what I mean?
Or will it only record when someone press the doorbell? If that is so it doesn't really make sense as you can enable rich notifications and for that it needs to record even when the button is not pressed.
I have added the doorbell to my Tapo Care subscription as my 10th camera.
I have not put an Sdcard in my hub (as I added the doorbell to the Tapo Care subscription).
Please guys, what am I missing here?

Hi,
Please refer to the steps on this thread to confirm if your configurations are correct.
Update the Tapo app, your hub, and the doorbell camera to the latest one. If they are, would you please send me the version info?
On the Tapo app > camera's Live View > Playback & Download >Playback >SD card page, is the page displayed with no recordings?
Best Regards

Well well well... seems like I am not the only one. Should I be relieved or angry with TAPO team?
I have identical situation like yours. Everything was working fine until 2 days back. Notification and Playback were ok, now there is notification but no recordings. Why did TAPO break this when everything was working fine???????
I have tried all the steps, there have been no change made to app, hub or camera but you guys did!
FIX IT ASAP
SD Card is guaranteed to be ok, detection notification has no issues until couple of days back where the notification is late and not instant. There is nothing wrong with my network, strong signal shown on app for camera, wired to Hub. Get it rectified or even roll back your unstable firmware.
Extremely disappointing to waste so much time to troubleshoot this issue.
Hub Firmware 1.3.6 Build 20240829 rel.71119 <<< seems like your engineering team really f this up
Camera Firmware 1.1.17

Hi,
1. Is the problem that you can receive detection notifications but no video recordings stored on the inserted SD card?
On the doorbell's Live View > Playback & Download > Playback > SD card page, can you see the new video clips appear after receiving the notification and wait for 1 minute?
2. Please go to the Doorbell's Device Settings > Storage & Recording page, and send me the pictures of the Local Storage and Recording Schedule page.
Is the Local Recording option enabled?
3. You can back up the important video clips from the SD card, format it, insert it into the hub, and then check if it will work.
Best Regards

1) Received notifications and detections, but cannot view recording. Was working fine until 3 days ago with no settings changed except your app update
2)
3) Tested my SD card, genuine and able to store many more GB data. Reformated, same symptoms.
Please bring back to your product and engineering team to work something out. Users didn't change anything, not the settings on the app, didn't shut down any power that affects the hub nor changing battery for the camera. The only change is coming from your app side. Come on! Everything was working fine, until few days back.

Hi,
I'm confused about that are there video clips stored on the SD card when the doorbell camera detects events? Is the problem that you can't play the video clips stored on the SD card or no video clips will be stored on the SD card?
Please uninstall the Tapo app on your phone, refer to the link to download the Tapo debug app(Trial app), install it on your phone, and then check if it helps.
Best Regards

Hi hi, the video clips stored were up to 11 Nov, no more local recording since then. Detections and notifications are still working fine though. There are no problem playing back clips that are 11 Nov and earlier.
I have tested separately there is no issue with the SD card.

I have the same exact problem, I’m getting notifications for the events but nothing is being recorded, not even when someone presses the doorbell.
